Farming has been a way of life for the founder
and owner of Wildwood Farm. Scott MacKenzie,
grew up on a dairy farm in Southern New
Hampshire. His family's three-generation farm
prospered throughout the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
From a one-acre farm it expanded to over 500
acres, adding a retail milk business, an ice
cream parlor and a real estate development
company along the way.
During the seventies, most of the family
businesses were sold and Scott moved
west to Vermont. There he found the land
he sought to grow blueberries and
raspberries. On a side hill in East Dorset,
covered with trees and rocks, the wild,
wooded old cow pasture was to become
the lush green and successful berry
producing Wildwood Farm in 1983. Today
the farm covers thirteen acres of rolling
hills with a sugar house, two thousand
blueberry bushes, a three acre raspberry
patch, Scott's residence and lush flower
gardens, and a life size dapple gray horse statue that greets you as you drive
up to the picking fields.
Pick-your-own and pre-picked berries are
available daily along with other farm
products and hand made Vermont crafts.
We encourage pickers to call first for
daily picking conditions (802) 362-4519.
Sometime when you are out for a drive in
the beautiful Vermont hills during July
and August, stop by and visit and don't
forget to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in
our shaded picnic area. At Wildwood
Farm you are sure to have an enjoyable
experience meandering through the
fields and gardens and picking buckets
full of juicy blueberries and raspberries.
